Autumn Craft Courses in the Ribeira Sacra, north Spain and August roundup

Anna Champeney and Lluis Grau´s enchanting, small hand-woven textile and basketry workshops in the tiny hamlet of Cristosende may have the most tranquil location but they are amazingly active, with a full programme of craft courses and activities with guided visits in august. Both craftspeople also manage to participate in international exhibitions, make work to commission, and develop new work at the same time and run a holiday cottage next door – Casa dos Artesans. Fela Pile Fabric Cushion - hand-woven Spanish Textile Design by Anna Champeney Textile Studio

Galician felpa cushions are still made by hand in this part of north Spain. The ancient technique of felpa – or hand-made macro loop-pile fabric, is over 1000 years old. Anna Champeney Textile Studio, in Galicia, specialises in felpa cushions with both traditional and modern designs, and combines research into the technique with promoting a wider understanding of the technique, both in Spain and internationally.
