Textile and Basketry Workshops

AC Estudio Textil & Basketry Workshop

Anna Champeney Estudio Textil and Lluis Grau offer you a wide range of quality, craft courses and tuition at their idyllically-situated workshops in the Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, rural north Spain (2 hours from Santiago de Compostela).   Whether you are a beginner or an experienced maker, there are options to suit you.  Dates are flexible and you can choose to work  intensively or at a more relaxed pace. We offer discounted rates for groups and courses start at 90€ for a course given over two half days or intensively, in a single day.

Choosing a course – Choose from our course list below. You can mix-and-match courses to cover all our crafts or focus on just one craft and explore it in more depth.  Most people, including beginners, can make a basket or weave a simple textile in an 8 hour course.  Each course has the approximate duration beside it.  We are flexible, however, and any of the courses can be extended to cover more ground.

Accommodation - renting our self-catering holiday cottage – Casa dos Artesans - means you can save on meals out and enjoy the extra space and privacy.  The alternative, in the same village, is a double room in the local manor-house hotel.  If you are looking for other kinds of accommodation please ask us and we will do our best to help.   We usually rent the cottage as a whole but if you are coming on your own, off-peak season and are flexible in terms of dates we can sometimes combine your stay with another individual person enabling you to share the cost.

The Craft Workshops – are in an idyllic setting on the edge of the village, in  sensitively-restored traditional stone buildings with views across vineyards, wooded hillsides and the picturesque village of Cristosende.    Good walking and landscape photography.  Nearest shop 20 nminutes walk (1.5km), nearest shopping town 15 minutes by car.

Course Duration and Dates - Course duration is given in hours (h).  To know how many days the course would take if given intensively divide y 8, and half days, divide by 4.  Dates are flexible.  Contact us with your ideas.  We can usually extend courses if you wish to explore a theme in more depth.
