Top qualty soft merino scarf inspired by rock formations, erosion and the Cantabrian sea at the Playa de los Catedrales (Cathedral beach), Galicia, north Spain.

Design by Anna Champeney Estudio Textil.  Completely hand-woven and finished.  Dyed using hand-extracted natural dyes.  Design selected for international exhibition at the National Museum of Applied Arts, Madrid (2013) in “Suave”.

Description

water loves rock detail 450 water loves rock 4 450 Description:  This beautiful scarf in the softest merino is of a quality to rival luxury branded textiles and is directly inspired by the incredible rock formations and the impressive Cantabrian sea as seen at the Playa de los Catedrales (Cathedral Beach), in Galicia, north Spain.

Totally hand-woven this very special scarf is woven using the double-weave technique which results in a highly striking and original design which is different on both sides.  The scarf is elegantly finished with a fringe-less hand-stitched edging at top and bottom.

This design was selected by an selection commitee for the international textile exhibition  “Suave” (Soft), held at the Museo Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas in Madrid, 2013).

Materials:  Top quality Australian merino wool and hand-extracted natural dyes.

Téchniques used:  Double-weave, hand-woven on manual looms, hand-dyed with natural dyes including Lanzarote cochineal and locally cultivated or collected dyeplants in north Spain.

Measurements:  35cm x 200cm

Care instructions:  Hand-wash gently in warm water.  Do not wring, tumble-dry or use bleach.  Dry flat.    This textile has been dyed with care and attention, and uses fixatives to preserve the natural dyes.  However, to best preserve the beauty of natural colours do not leave this textile exposed strong sunlight for long periods of time.
